All Luke wanted for his birthday party was a giant, real soccer game with his friends. Like 11 v 11, goalies and positions and refs and me and Kenny as coaches calling fouls and planning trick plays.
After about ten minutes most of his friends were too hot (Houston in May, people!), making a beeline for the playground. So he was left with himself and one or two other diehard soccer fans and their brave dads...(Though we still had to drag Luke and his friend Steven off the field when the dads quit after an hour of play)
...and a fireless birthday cupcake after the wind blew out his candles and the lighter stopped working.
It was enough. Happy birthday Luke!
