Five and Three Quarters no Longer!

Luke is now six. And is very proud of it.

Top five words to describe Luke:

1. Energetic: his kindergarten teacher (the fabulous Mrs. Fraps) let me know that she has never had a child who could go for as long and as hard as Luke. All of her other students will at some point or another complain about being tired or hot or bored, but Luke never quits. Even in 105 degree weather.

2. Confident: or maybe just oblivious? Things that would have mortified me as a child just dont seem to register with Luke. Things like yelling "I have to go poopoo!" in the middle of the school hallway or chanting all by himself at the top of his lungs at a baseball game or telling other kids why what they are doing is wrong and how to do it better. (Though we try to curb that last one)

3. Enthusiastic: Luke regularly yells (and wholeheartedly means) things like "this is so beautiful!"  And "this is the best day ever!" Or "this is the most fun I've ever had in my life!" And so on.

4. Inquisitive: two phrases that you can hear every day in our house are "Its time to stop talking, Luke" and "I'm not sure, you can ask your dad later". I still remember the first time I ever told Luke to stop talking a few years ago; I felt like a terrible mother. The feeling passed.

5. Outspoken: I blame Kenny. Especially because he has taught Luke how to back up all of his many likes, dislikes, and opinions with reasoning (which may or may not be sound, but Luke will tell it to you anyway!). Lawyers.

Happy birthday to the most energetic, talkative, sincere, authentic six-year-old I know!
