Spring Break in Cancun--Day 1

I've finally gotten around to my New Year's Resolution (for the second year in a row) and in it I get to make you all wildly jealous of our trip! Neither Kenny nor I had ever been to Mexico, despite our worldly wanderings, so it seemed an excellent first trip as a couple without parental funding.

This was our first hotel in Cancun, where we had our first real taste of the classic "spring break" (literally-Kenny was accidentally given a non-virgin strawberry daquiri our first night there) and got to witness gangs of scantily-dressed girls walk around singing off-key at the top of their lungs. Added to the ambiance. But the view was gorgeous.

And after sub-freezing temperatures and record-breaking blizzards, sunlight was a little foreign, but very welcome...

...bringing lots of squinting and  good ol' 50 spf sunblock.

Our first day we spent a few hours on the beach, which, thanks to Kenny, ended up being the only time we spent there. He was also the voice of caution, as usual, and made sure we were never in danger of being swept out to sea, planting his feet a solid ten feet from shore and declaring that he was clearly experiencing the ocean enough.

Stay tuned.
