The Babes Goes to Preschool!

And loves it!

He ran right in, no hesitation, talking his teachers' ear off the whole way.

I was *cough* the last parent to arrive (#secondchildsyndrome) and he took his sweet time finishing up with his stickers and giving his teachers high-fives before sauntering over to the door.

In the car as we were leaving we had this conversation:

D: "Mama, I'm sad."
Me: "Why are you sad?"
D: "Because I want to go back to school..."
Me: "Well you get to go to school tomorrow!"
D: "Oh! Thanks mama!"

You're welcome, Baby D! You're welcome.

Young Summer Travels, Parent Edition

Chicago (again!)

But so much better than before!

no kids, law school friends, Art Institute, delicious food, deep dish pizza, board game cafĂ©, escape the room, karaoke, Hyde Park ward fast and testimony meeting (complete with testimonies about earth as a spaceship and Satan as a woman), University of Chicago campus and law school, and reverse charades.

So good, there's only one way to accurately describe it: "salt hot". (~Kimball Parker)

Young Summer Travels Ed. 5

August Ed. 5: Chicago (x2)

Cubs game, riding the L, first apartment, hospital where Luke was born, University of Chicago campus and law school.

Luke feels a strong sense of ownership because he was born in Chicago, even going so far as to dictate that we were unable to return without him a few weeks later because we weren't born there.

Life is full of disappointments.

Young Summer Travels Ed. 4

August Ed. 4: Michigan City

cousins, the beach, more beach, games, hours and hours of war (courtesy of Luke, Danton, and Caleb), and Opa D boot camp

Big sand snot trails...
Look! Ken's in the water! At least we think it's him...could be an imposter he hired to take the hit for him...

I will say that one of my proudest moments was seeing Luke as the only cousin brave foolish enough to chuck a water balloon at Opa D...

...and ruin the salute picture with whatever this is.

Young Summer Travels Ed. 3

August Edition 3: Milwaukee and the State Fair (x2)

the discovery center, cream puffs, carnival games, getting caught in the rain, food-on-a-stick, flavored milk, and more fried cheese.

Don't let the happy face fool you--every time the boys came around Luke was expressing his extreme displeasure of being on the carousel.

That's a lot of cousins! And a lot of boys! And all of them got caught in the pouring rain at the Wisconsin State Fair. Forced Family Fun Forever!
